Tobacco-related disease is the leading preventable cause of death in the U.S. causing over 400,000 deaths per year. The National Alliance for Tobacco Cessation (NATC) has produced a fact sheet on the national prevalence and trends of U.S. adults and cigarette smoking. The NATC reports prevalence rates and trends by gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status (SES), and ethnicity.
