Fact Sheet - Early Retirees

Early retirees face unique financial and health challenges as their incomes decline and health care costs increase, highlighting their great need for health services and comprehensive coverage. However, 4.3 of these Americans are uninsured making this group even more vulnerable to developing chronic health conditions, which require greater medical care and come at a greater cost, increasing the chance that early retirees will forego necessary medical care. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act contains several provisions which are designed to assist them.
