Small Business Majority (SBM) is partnering with the National Coalition on Health Care (NCHC) and other organizations to find practical solutions to the skyrocketing health insurance bills faced by California’s small businesses.
Since enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), SBM has been active in California with policy makers, small businesses, media outlets, health policy experts and advocates to amplify the voice of small business owners.
SBM CEO John Arensmeyer is hosting a listening tour series taking him to various California cities where he answers questions from small business owners and employees about insurance exchanges, high risk pools and tax credits while gaining more insight into challenges facing California’s vulnerable small businesses. The results are being used by NCHC to inform policy development, public education and advocacy efforts with other communities of interest throughout California and the nation. Listening tour meetings and other events have been held or are scheduled in Alameda, Fremont, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Oakland, Sacramento, San Diego, San Jose, and Walnut Creek.
SBM also has testified at and/or participated in numerous post ACA enactment forums across California including: the California Task Force on Affordable Care, the Governor’s Conference on Small Business and Entrepreneurship Joint Legislative Health Committee Hearing, and a Town Hall with Representative John Garamendi.
