The Coalition draws its strength from its diverse members. As a nonpartisan and nonprofit coalition of more than 80 participating organizations, NCHC represents medical societies, businesses, unions, health care providers, faith-based associations, pension and health funds, insurers, and groups representing consumers, patients, women, minorities, and persons with disabilities. Taking these individuals together, the Coalition represents more than 100 million Americans. NCHC continuously engages key members through its Forum series, Policy Committee meetings, and one-on-one Hill meetings. Taken together, these discussions formed the basis of the Coalition’s advocacy strategy, policy positions, and messaging. Have your voice heard. Consumer, Patient and Public Interest Organizations

U.S. PIRG

U.S. PIRG is a consumer group that stands up to powerful interests whenever they threaten our health and safety, our financial security, or our right to fully participate in our democratic society. With a strong network of researchers, advocates, organizers and students in state capitals across the country, it takes on the special interests on issues such as product safety, public health, political corruption, tax and budget reform and consumer protection, where these interests stand in the way of reform and progress.

AARP

AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, with a membership of more than 37 million, that helps people 50+ have independence, choice and control in ways that are beneficial to them and society as a whole. AARP’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for all as we age, leading positive social change and delivering value to members through information, advocacy and service.

American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network

ACS CAN’s work includes a strong focus on preventing cancer, seeking new cures and treatments and ensuring all Americans have access to the medical care that could save their life. They also support the determination and courage of cancer patients and survivors by working to improve their quality of life both during treatment and after it has ended.

Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum

The Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) is a health justice nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of more than 17 million Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders living in the United States and its jurisdictions. APIAHF works with community advocates, public health leaders and policymakers to generate policies, programs and systems changes to improve the health of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities.

C-Change

C-Change is comprised of the nation’s key cancer leaders from government, business and nonprofit sectors. These cancer leaders share the vision of a future where cancer is prevented, detected early and cured or is managed successfully as a chronic illness. One of the underlying principles of C-Change is to leverage the leadership and expertise of all sectors of society to eliminate cancer as a major public health problem at the earliest possible time.

Children’s Defense Fund

The Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) is a nonprofit child advocacy organization that has worked relentlessly for nearly 40 years to ensure a level playing field for all children. They champion policies and programs that lift children out of poverty; protect them from abuse and neglect; and ensure their access to health care, quality education and a moral and spiritual foundation. Supported by foundation and corporate grants and individual donations, CDF advocates nationwide on behalf of children to ensure children are always a priority.

CodeBlueNow!

CodeBlueNow! is a national, nonpartisan grassroots, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to giving the public a voice in shaping a new health care system. Its mission is to create strong public will for change by engaging the public in designing, shaping and promoting a template for a new health care system.

Common Cause

Common Cause is a nonpartisan, nonprofit advocacy organization founded in 1970 by John Gardner as a vehicle for citizens to make their voices heard in the political process and to hold their elected leaders accountable to the public interest. Today, Common Cause is one of the most active, effective and respected nonprofit organizations working for political change in America. Common Cause strives to strengthen our democracy by empowering members, supporters and the general public to take action on critical policy issues.

Community Catalyst

Community Catalyst is a national non-profit advocacy organization working to build the consumer and community leadership that is required to transform the American health system. Community Catalyst’s first priority is quality affordable health care for all. Since 1998, it has provided leadership and support to state and local consumer organizations, policymakers, and foundations working to change the health care system so it serves everyone – especially vulnerable members of society.

Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities

The Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) is a Coalition of national consumer, advocacy, provider and professional organizations headquartered in Washington, D.C. Since 1973, CCD has advocated on behalf of people of all ages with physical and mental disabilities and their families. CCD has worked to achieve federal legislation and regulations that assure that the 54 million children and adults with disabilities are fully integrated into the mainstream of society.

Georgetown University Center for Children and Families

The Georgetown University Center for Children and Families (CCF) is an independent, nonpartisan policy and research center founded in 2005 with a mission to expand and improve health coverage for America’s children and families. As part of the University’s Health Policy Institute, Georgetown CCF provides research, develops strategies and offers solutions to improve the health of America’s children and families, particularly those with low and moderate incomes.

Japanese American Citizens League

Founded in 1929, the JACL is the oldest and largest Asian American civil rights organization in the United States. The JACL monitors and responds to issues that enhance or threaten the civil and human rights of all Americans and implements strategies to effect positive social change, particularly to the Asian Pacific American community.

League of Women Voters

The League of Women Voters is a citizens’ organization that has fought since 1920 to improve our government and engage all citizens in the decisions that impact their lives. It operates at national, state and local levels through more than 800 state and local Leagues. Formed from the movement that secured the right to vote for women, the centerpiece of the League’s efforts remain to expand participation and give a voice to all Americans.

Medicare Rights Center

The Medicare Rights Center is a national, nonprofit consumer service organization that works to ensure access to affordable health care for older adults and people with disabilities through counseling and advocacy, educational programs and public policy initiatives.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)

Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation’s oldest, largest and most widely recognized grassroots-based civil rights organization. Its more than half-million members and supporters throughout the United States and the world are the premier advocates for civil rights in their communities. The mission of the NAACP is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.

National Consumers League

The National Consumers League (NCL) is America’s oldest consumer organization, representing consumers and workers on marketplace and workplace issues since its founding in 1899. NCL provides government, businesses and other organizations with the consumer’s perspective on concerns including child labor, privacy, food safety and medication information. NCL is home to the LifeSmarts program, Child Labor Coalition, NCL’s Fraud Center and SOS Rx Coalition.

National Council of La Raza

The National Council of La Raza (NCLR)—the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States—works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans. Through its network of nearly 300 affiliated community-based organizations, NCLR reaches millions of Hispanics each year in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. To achieve its mission, NCLR conducts applied research, policy analysis, and advocacy.

National Multiple Sclerosis Society

The National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society is dedicated to helping individuals suffering from multiple sclerosis. The Society helps individuals address the challenges of living with MS through their 50-state network of chapters. In addition, the Society funds cutting-edge research, drives change through advocacy, facilitates professional education and provides programs and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward.
