Business Wire reports in its article, Analytical Breakthroughs Ease Health Care Reform, that the University of Louisville researchers are using SAS Analytics software to analyze medical records and health care claims. The information from the data and text mining will facilitate compliance with the ACA for insurers and health care providers. Associated research also provides optimal treatment plans that can improve quality of care and reduce costs. The software uses predictive modeling and a number of tools to deliver “more accurate, long-range views of treatments and costs.” The model will improve on old information management strategies and incorrect statistics that can cause problems in investigating health outcomes and settling reimbursements. The analysis is a step forward for health information technology and provides useful strategies to improve the quality and efficiency of care that will allow for successful implementation of the federal health care reform law.
