Trust for America’s Health (TFAH), a public health advocacy organization, has sent a letter to Senators opposing passage of H.R. 1, the appropriations bill that would fund the federal government through the end of fiscal year 2011.  The bill includes steep cuts to health program funding.  According to TFAH, the cuts would essentially eliminate the Prevention and Public Health Fund, created by federal health reform to invest in prevention and public health programs that would reduce America’s burden of chronic disease.  “Due to the growing burden of chronic disease, our country faces exploding health care costs that diminish our economic productivity and limit businesses’ ability to compete in a global economy.”
