Earlier this week, the House Energy and Commerce Committee deliberated legislation related to Medicaid and public health spending, as part of the House’s larger COVID-19 reconciliation package. Several provisions would strengthen Medicaid and CHIP, reduce cost-sharing, and provide additional funding to states for vaccine distribution. The legislation aligns well with key recommendations that the National Coalition on Health Care proposed in our letter to the Biden Administration transition team outlining our priorities for 2021, such as using federal matching to incentivize states to expand Medicaid.
