Congressional Actions and Reports

As highlighted by the Small Business Majority (SBM), small businesses are having a difficult time obtaining guidance and understanding how the Affordable Care Act (ACA) affects them. Among small business owners their chief concerns are long and short term affordability and benefits of reform. SBM has seen a rise in questions from small businesses who don’t understand their new options and how to best provide options to their employees.

In response, SBM has highlighted informative small business resources including: SBM’s and Families USA’s report showing that 83.7 % of small businesses will be eligible for a tax credit in 2010; IRS reports explaining the small business tax credits; RAND’s simulation and report showing that thanks to the new exchanges many small businesses will begin to offer insurance to their employees; and The Commonwealth Fund’s report finding that subsidies will reduce small business expenses by as much as 11% while improving access and reducing overall and administrative costs.
