Connecticut to Decrease Premiums for Preexisting Condition Health Plans
Connecticut has received federal approval to set a flat premium for the state’s Preexisting Condition Insurance Plan. This rate will ensure coverage for $381 a month for any individual who qualifies.
Some Health Insurance Premiums are Declining
Last month, Aetna received approval from Connecticut regulators to reduce premiums on individual policies by an average of 10 percent. Starting in September, the decrease, which will affect some 15,000 consumers, will save policyholders approximately $259 a year.
Connecticut Senate Passes Health Insurance Exchange Bill
Connecticut’s Senate passed legislation to create a health insurance exchange, which will play an essential role in expanding coverage under the Affordable Care Act. Prior to implementation, the bill needs approval from the House.
