Opposed to the ACA, Florida Has Rejected Millions in Grants
Florida has refused millions of dollars in grants made available under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The state Legislature has rejected grants aimed at restructuring long-term care, strengthening state regulation of health insurance premiums and curbing abuse through in-home counseling programs. The state government does not agree with the provisions of the ACA and will not implement the federal law, unless directed by an appellate court.

Florida has returned another federal grant meant to help in the implementation of health reform. The $1 million dollar grant was intended to facilitate the state enactment of a system that would allow consumers to compare health insurance plans within the state exchanges set to launch in 2014.
