Smoking, and other forms of tobacco use, continues to burn a hole through the wallets of American families and through America’s potential for a healthy future. As part of reforming America’s health system the federal state governments are taking steps to curb America’s tobacco addiction. This fact sheet examines tobacco use in North Carolina and how these new laws and programs might affect North Carolina’s tobacco users in the future.

North Carolina and Obesity

America’s battle with obesity has become an issue of national concern. Increasing numbers of adults, and children, are considered obese, which means having a body mass index (BMI) over 30%. However, state and the federal  governments are taking steps to combat America’s obesity problem. This fact sheet discusses obesity, as it relates to North Carolina residents, and what North Carolina’s government is doing to help their constituents.
